Chanukah, Hanukkah, Hannukkah, חנוכה – however you spell it, it’s time to buy something special for those you love (and maybe for yourself, too) – even if you are not an artist!
In our family we don’t buy a lot of presents, but when we do we make sure they are good quality and enjoyable for multiple ages and versatile for various personalities such as: family games, clothes, functional items, and beautiful creations.
Here are a eight presents that caught my artistic eye.
1. Pablo Pi-socko
Who doesn’t love funky socks during winter? Decorate your feet with the Mona Lisa, Starry Night, and other artistic masterpieces. Or, go for some socks with a Hanukkah theme.
2. Azul
This present brings together two important themes: it’s a work of art and a game for the whole family. We recently purchased this game, and we’ve spent hours playing! Everyone enjoys it all the way down to our 8-year old. The game features Portuguese-style tiles, and it’s so beautiful that I was inspired to make the next item: a Hanukkah tile design!
3. ArtTrivet Heat-Resistant Table Runners
Yes, these are mine 😉. The first design is a classic Hanukkah blue and white, each tile painted individually with motifs including a sevivon (dreidel), a hanukiah (menorah), a Jewish star, and a pitcher of oil. The second design features the Hanukkah battle along the lighting of the Hanukiah that brings the sunrise. Both designs (as well as our 11 other designs) are printed on heat-resistant, recycled fabric with recycled rubber protecting your table up to 300 F.
4. Fractiles Mandala Pack
You don’t need to have loads of artistic talent to create stunning designs with this meditative mandala/design kit! These easy to use pieces can keep anyone occupied (warning: choking hazard for small children). I love sitting around on Saturday afternoon just arranging these pieces in different designs.
5. Qurious Space Kid’s Telescope
Explore the beauty of the heavens with this Qurious telescope kit. This telescope was made for kids (but can also be enjoyed by teens and adults) and is non-toxic, and includes a protective carry case, built-in compass, custom star and lunar charts, space activity guide, and more! Plus, it comes in funky colors like purple and turquoise (my favorite color!).
6. Posca markers
It wouldn’t be an artistic hanukkah without some art supplies. I love these water based permanent shakey markers by Posca – I use them to draw on everything, from challah boards to tables to jewelry and gift boxes. There are many knock-off brands of these but Posca is the best!
7. Mont Marte Easel
This is an item I have had my eyes on for years. After all this time I still do not own a proper easel. It’s a professional stable easel that holds your canvases steady, and even tilts completely flat so you can apply gesso, varnish and glazes. I may actually surprise myself and order it!
8. iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and Procreate
While on the pricier side, this little powerhouse can help you unfurl a potential you may not have known that you had. Procreate is an intuitive drawing app that is adding some animation tools in the next few weeks. When paired with the Apple Pencil, iPad Pro goes beyond the regular touch screen with features like pressure sensitivity and simulating real paints. I’ve created a few recent paintings on this work of art, including the Hanukkah Tile and Hanukkah Lights ArtTrivets!

Hi, Yael and talented mishpochah —
I got to your website from your YouTube face-mask video. It’s brilliant and your project is beyond inspirational. Kol ha k’vod!
I’m emailing the link to the video and today’s United With Israel article to my 4th-grade students here in the United States. I haven’t seen them since the Purim Carnival except for ZOOM t’fillah and classes.
Wishing you a pesach kasher v’sameach,
!חג פסח כשר ושמח
